It is amazing how you can live somewhere for years and years and not know that little hidden treasures of fun, excitement and family memories are just right around the corner. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in Woodlands, TX, a mere 40 minute drive from my house, to find a staycation that everyone loved! I loved the perfectly manicured lawns, the millions of dollars in updates and the spa… ahhh… the spa…. but the kids loved the double slides, the lazy river and FREE S’mores every night! There are 5 Reasons the Woodlands Resort is a hidden family treasure. There are many, many more, but the article can’t be 10,000 words long!
Accommodations at the Woodlands Resort
Get ready for 5 star accommodations in the newly renovated rooms at the Woodlands resort. We had a double queen room and it was plenty of room for 4 people. With a deck off the back overlooking their world class golf courses, we enjoyed relaxing and popping in between activities to rest up. But the best part is that the rooms are SO quiet that my girls slept peacefully and uninterrupted the entire time we were there. I have been to many hotels where the evening revelers or morning activity has woken them. But not here. It was bliss!
Water Slides
Who knew that hidden behind the beautiful multi building layout, the two championship golf courses and the spanning tennis court complex was a child’s paradise? I sure didn’t but when the girls and I hit the pool, they were thrilled at the double twisting slides that popped them out into a pool of happy!
Laugh and giggle as your little ones speed down the slides over and over again. I did them both and they were fast, fun and never got old!
The pool that has the slides is a kid’s paradise! With a beach type walk in and an island that has colorful paintings and music playing UNDER the water, the depth is never more than 4 ft and perfect for little swimmers. I could actually sit and relax instead of having to be in with the kids all the time.
We swam the lazy river whose current pushed us along at a pretty good pace, stopped at the water slide half way through and swam in the big pool that featured a fun waterfall.
Hidden Surprises
From FREE S’more every night from 6 -7pm, plus a FREE pool side movie every night to free pool tables, bike rides and more, the Woodlands Resort will occupy the family every day. We were there for three days and it was actually challenging to try to get everything in!
There was even story time, free popcorn for the movie, free balloon animals and activities like contest and games for kids where they could win prizes! There little hidden extras make the Woodlands resort a true thrill for kids, and adults, of all ages!
Golf & Tennis Lovers Rejoice
My girls are learning Tennis from me. I have played almost my whole life and would love to have them be my partners as they grow! So when we saw that there were both indoor and outdoor, quality courts at the Woodlands Resort, with balls and rackets included, I had to take them to play!
But one thing the girls and I both loved was the tour of the world class gold courses! The Panther Creek course if for members only but the Oaks course offers challenging golf play for everyone. I got to tour the courses and learned that they are upgrading all of the bunkers and greens as we speak. Improvements are made as needed but this is an overhaul aimed at improving your golf experience.
With breathtaking views from the paths and the greens, any golf lover would enjoy a day on these courses!
