If you are anything like me, your dog is part of your family.  You love them, care for them, and worry for them just as much as you would a child.  We were a three dog family until this year and are now down to one.  And, I admit, I spoil our little Bud as much as I can!

I read recently about a website, BestPetHealth.com, and am glad it has so many healthy products!  Our little dog is passing middle aged and I am starting to notice signs of it.  He’s a little slower getting off the couch, limps a little after a day of chasing squirrels, and his shiny coat is looking a little less…  shiny.

Among the products and super cute pet photos, I found a page I could easily become addicted to: the Deal of the Month page.  Here you’ll find special deals – like Free Shipping on all orders this month – and coupons for the variety of products that BestPetHealth.com carries.

I searched for a while over the dog products (they have cat merchandise too) and saw everything from allergy chewables  to shampoos and even treats aimed at helping your dogs joints.  I made a note to buy those for my dogs hips!

I was lucky enough to receive the Nutri-Vet Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil for Dogs.  I read about the product and found that it provides omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that are not in most pet foods and that the oil is made only from Alaskan salmon that is stabilized with antioxidants.  It helps promote healthy skin and glossy coats with omega-3 fatty acids.  Plus, it helps support a healthy immune system and that is important for my little dog!

To be honest, I did not think  Bud would taste this at all and that I was going to have to hand this to my neighbor and her stunt dogs to see how they liked it!  But, to my amazement, Bud licked the teaspoon of Salmon Oil from the very first day!  He won’t even eat cheese if it is not hand fed so this was a wonderful surprise!

Over the last two weeks, I have put the oil on his food every day.  Now, he eats sporadically, but I knew when I saw his empty plate that he had eaten everything, Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil and all!  So I watched to see if I could notice a difference in his coat.

I’ll be honest, I did not notice anything earth shattering on the actual shine of his coat.  The product does say it can take several weeks. But what I HAVE noticed -and my husband has too – is that he does not seem to be biting and licking his skin as much.  I am not talking about the biting they do if they have fleas – he does not (remember, super spoiled!) – but have you ever noticed when a dog is kind of itchy, from the cold weather drying out their skin, that they lick the same place over and over again?

Well, he was doing that a lot and I feared that he would create a sore.  But, especially in the last week, he has not done it at all. And the only thing that has changes it the introduction of the Nutri-Vet Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil!  So, I easily attribute the change to that!
