Good food is not hard to find in Houston, TX. But excellent food with an amazing atmosphere and an experience that you want again immediately is a little harder to stumble upon.
STRAITS Restaurant in CityCentre in Houston, TX is now one of my favorites. This Singapore inspired restaurant and lounge is such fun. From the new flavors and foods being presented to me to the open patio that overlooks CityCentre and the bustling activity, I fell in love.
I wanted to try everything so I ordered a lot. But to wash it down I started with a refreshing tumbler of Pineapple Sangria. I love regular sangria but I was surprised and super pleased with the clean, refreshing, not overbearing flavor of the Pineapple flavor. I could have drank that all night long.
And then it was time to sample a bunch of stuff. I ordered the Singapore Satay Sticks – in chicken and beef – and savored the grilled flavor with the peanut sauce that it sat on. I also got the Roti Prata that was to die for. Seriously, this amazing appetizer was the favorite…. if I had to choose one.
I then chose to sample the Indonesian Corn Croquettes, Vietnamese Beef Carparccio, and the Tuna Tower. Yes, I was full but this tapas style meal satisfied my desire to sample the menu and thrill my taste buds at the same time.
I truly love the entire experience and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Houston. Sit inside in the crisp, clean restaurant, enjoy the open bright bar, or sit outside on the comfortable couches like I did. I bet you won’t be disappointed in anything that you experience at Straits Restaurant! I am so ready to go back!

The Singapore Satay sticks sound amazing and all of those dishes look delicious.
We almost ordered the corn croquettes, I will try them next time. Yummy!
Love the murtabok, which is the Roti Parts stuffed with beef (same yummy curry sauce) and lychee martini is my favorite drink. If you haven’t tried the famous Singapore Sling worth sampling too. They have awesome happy hour weekdays until 7.
Awesome! I am definitely going back!!
The Satay Sticks are delicious! If you go for brunch you HAVE to try the mango butter pancakes. They are amazing!
