Rocky Road Fudge OR Candied Cherry Fudge? Which is Best for Entertaining? + $1600 Nestle Giveaway

I love entertaining during the holidays. I may not have a huge party but I consider taking sweet treats to neighbors, showing up with something amazing to share for dinner and sharing my recipes with friends as entertaining too! Anything that causes a smile and a warm hug is great for me! This year, using the awesome NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Famous Fudge Kit, I decided to give my recipients an option. Rocky Road Fudge OR Candies Cherry Fudge? Which would YOU choose?

Both are incredibly easy to make with the kits. So as I walked through Walmart and grabbed three kits, yes… three, I also picked up pecans and marshmallows and green and red candied cherries! I was walking along imagining the yum I was going to create when I also stumbled upon WONKA® SWEETARTS® Candy Canes! Now these are interesting!

Flavored as Blue Punch, Green Apple and Cherry, these would have been a good addition to the fudge too. However, I decided they might actually be better stuffed in a huge marshmallow and warmed to melt in hot cocoa! It was a new idea for me but, in the end, a brilliant one!

Back to the main attraction though, the fudge. Now, I have made fudge from scratch and it is pretty good. But with so many to make for, I need all the help I can get. Plus, the NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Famous Fudge always comes out just a little sweeter than mine. So making this fudge and just adding ingredients to make it mine is just a no brainer, in my opinion.

Following the directions on the box, I made the fudge. For the Rocky Road Fudge, I added in 1/2 cup of chopped pecans to the warm mixture. After pouring into my foil lined pan, I poured a ton of marshmallows on top and gently pressed them in.  After it say in the fridge for two hours, I was ready to cut and serve!

For the Candies Cherry Fudge, the process was almost the same. I chopped up 1/2 cup of red and green candies cherries and mixed them into the warm fudge. After pouring that into my pan, I topped the fudge with whole cherries. Two hours later, I had a real competitor to the Rocky Road Fudge!

Now, we all need a good, warm drink to help cleanse our palette between fudge tastings so I made some hot cocoa to accompany my very difficult decision. As mentioned before, my incredibly brilliant idea to add a WONKA® SWEETARTS® Candy Cane into my warm hot cocoa was a hit! The cane melted slightly and I got a taste of cherry in my cocoa. As I drank the cocoa, the candy cane acted as a stirrer and infused ever so slightly my cup. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to try more flavors!

In the end, I simply can not decide. I love the classic Rocky Road Fudge and I love the slightly sweet, slightly tart mix of the Candies Cherry Fudge. I guess my poor guests will have to just take a vote as I will be serving, and giving, them both! Since one kit alone makes 1 1/2 pounds, I will have a lot of people in my area voting away!
