With the temperatures heating up and the grill in use, fun burgers can be a hit for everyone! Easy to make, easy to dress up and easy to eat. With three small kids, I like to make sliders. They are small for kids but full of flavor for adults. Rummaging through my fridge the other day, I came across some Smoke Flavored Cheese Sticks that the kids liked but passed over for other snacks. It gave me an idea and I created the delicious Smokey Cheese Pretzel Bun Slider Recipe!

Recipe type: lunch

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 smoke flavored cheese sticks, sliced
  • Mini Pretzel Buns (I found in the frozen bread aisle)
  • chili sauce
  • pickles, sliced
  • purple onion, sliced
  • condiments of your choice
Instructions
  1. Pull pretzel buns out of freezer to thaw. Mix the hamburger meat with the sliced cheese sticks in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. For slider sized patties and grill on medium for about 8 minutes on one side and 4 on the other. Patty should start to brown on the edges before you flip it. Meanwhile, slice pretzel buns. Add mayo to the bottom, top with a pickle slice. Top with burger patty, add sliced purple onion, top with chili sauce, the top of the bun and serve.

The cheese sticks melt into the meat on the grill and add a smoke flavor that tastes as if it were cooked over coals. The crunch of the pickle and onion and the little bite from the chili sauce mix with the creamy texture of the pretzel bun. There were so good that I have already made them a few more times!
