Have you ever had a really good pancake? Followed by a not so great tasting pancake? That’s what happens to Ethan in My Pancakes Taste Different today.
About My Pancakes Taste Different Today
Could a Pancake have the power to shape a child’s view of their world? It was a surprise to Ethan that his favorite breakfast, a stack of steaming hot pancakes, would reveal many ways that nature and people work together. He discovered that everyone has a hand in taking care of nature. Ethan would have never guessed that his simple, innocent act of tossing an oil can into the lake, just to make a big splash for fun, could change his whole wide world.
I have loved reading My Pancakes Taste Different Today to my kids, and they have loved listening to it. When I was a kid my mom would take at least one weekend a summer to take us around the neighborhood to pick up trash. I was always amazed by just how much garbage ends up on the sides of our roads. Whether it was food wrappers tossed out a window or a flat tire left after someone put on their spare. We collected it all! It made me appreciate the world we live in, and be very cautious of any waste I created.
That is exactly the lesson My Pancakes Taste Different Today embodies. Together our whole world comes together to create things we love. When even just one person stops paying attention to their effect on the world, it can change something as small as the taste of our pancakes.
At the end of the book is a delicious recipe for Flufly Pancakes (without ooze). I whipped up a batch and was actually impressed with how they turned out. The kids loved them, and paired with my homemade syrup recipe, they are delicious!
