Having girls means that I have hair ties, barrettes, headbands, hair glitter and more in my house. Teaching them to do their own hair is always a challenge. Letting them be creative with it can be as easy as letting them learn on a friend. Like with the Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Salon!
My oldest daughter has an extremely sensitive scalp. So though she wants to have awesome hair styles, the pain of pulling her hair into braids and buns and such just makes it hard for her. This toy has not only given her a way to play around with the styles and barrettes and more, it has made her more willing to try new styles – though we have to do it gently.

Mine loved the tiny ‘barrettes’ that simply pin into the hair. The kids love that they can wear the Moxie accessories in their own hair, too. Because there are a lot of pieces and most are tiny, this toy is recommended for ages 5 and up!
I find that having items in the home that help curb a child’s fear is a good thing. My 8 year old never let me try anything with her hair until she started playing with this. I find her, and her sister’s, sitting and trying to learn braids, twists and more. Then they will come to me and ask me to emulate it in their hair. Or they will try on each other.
I remember a toy like this when I was a little girl. I could sit forever and brush the long strands, separate and make the weirdest styles and then do it all over again. So I am glad there is a similar toy available for my girls.
