It is almost over. That chunk of time when my kids go to their dad’s for the summer. They still have 10 days in late July but the three week chunk ends Sunday! I can not tell you how incredibly happy I am! So happy, in fact, that I have been planning all kinds of fun things for the kids and I to do next week. Movies, dinners out, play dates with friends and more are all on the agenda! Next Thursday is my youngest daughter’s 6th birthday, too! So my planning for her small party has been in full swing for a while now! In addition to simple hot dogs, chips and dips, I wanted to add a little flair to the day! So I have been working on an easy ice cream bar! The object of the game is to have everything out to make a super fun Mason Jar M&M’s Sundae! But before I could do anything, I had to find the biggest bags of M&M’s® out there! Sure enough, my instinct to shop at Sam’s Club for a variety of XXL Bags of M&M’s® was spot on!
Besides planning for the party, I use M&M’s® for so many other fun things for the summer! Like M&M’s® pancakes, cookies and even mixed into crispy marshmallow treats! So having a super large bag to rely on when I am inspired is just smart! I have yet to meet anyone who does not love M&M’s® so just having them on hand to put out as a candy bowl when guests come over is a fun thing too!
As I planned my easy ice cream bar for my Mason Jar M&M’s® Sundae’s, I needed a variety of M&M’s®. I purchased the XXL bag of M&M’s® Original and M&M’s® Peanut. You can also find M&M’s® Crispy at Sam’s Club in the XXL bag to decorate your sundae’s with!
Since I had the M&M’s®, I just needed ice cream, chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. I also wanted to sort the M&M’s® into colors so that if someone wanted a green M&M’s® sundae or red M&M’s® sundae, they could do that! Or they could mix and match as they wanted! I sorted the M&M’s® into the containers I purchased and laid them out on a colorful tablecloth. I then added ice to a pretty bright blue tin and added the ice cream flavors I wanted. I stayed plain with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry because I wanted the M&M’s® to be the main flavor. Adding chocolate and caramel sauce made the bar complete.
It does not take much to have fun with this! Don’t forget some small mason jars, an ice cream scoop and spoons for your guests too when setting up your table!
I made my Mason Jar M&M’s® Sundae’s very carefully because after setting it all up, I was HUNGRY!! So I laid M&M’s® Original in the bottom of my mason jar, topped it with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and then added chopped up M&M’s® Peanut to the top. I them added chocolate AND caramel syrup and a dollop of whipped cream to finish it off. It was a crunchy, cold treat that made my day!
Making an easy ice cream bar does not have to be a ton of work, only a ton of fun! With easy mix in’s like M&M’s®, you can create a fun table that everyone who comes over will love!

Love the idea of an ice cream bar for a summer party or just after a hot afternoon of being outside with family and neighbors! Definitely going on my summer bucket list! (client)
It’s too fun, and M&M’s make it better!
