I love to create homemade extracts and spices. I especially love to make some, put them in decorative containers and hand them out as gifts! With the holidays around the corner, I thought I would show you how to make homemade vanilla! This is a super easy recipe that can be bottled beautifully for teacher gifts, or even for your neighbors!
This could not be easier to do! The hardest part is deciding what bottles you want to use, what Vodka to add (I recommend very high quality) and who to give it to! No one will not be appreciative of your efforts and every time they create a recipe with vanilla, they will think of you!
You can get vanilla beans at any fine grocery store. I cut them down to size depending on the bottles I use. Create smaller vanilla bottles and add them to a baking basket for a friend. Make larger bottles to store in your home for your use. Use Chalkboard Paint to make erasable labels so that you know when you made it and which bottle is the freshest. They last as long as regular vanilla – which is forever if you use really good beans! I used Madagascar Vanilla Beans I got on Amazon.
How wonderful to give a homemade gift that literally took you moments to create? I don’t know about you, but homemade gifts I can use to bake with, sweeten with and display are always the best ones!
Do you create your own spices and other homemade ingredients? I would love to hear what you make to see if I can create them too! Just leave your ideas in the comments below!

Yes – but my window sill is under shade. I have no problems with it overheating or anything.
