I live near the expanding, big city of Houston, TX. It’s booming, eclectic culture is one of the reasons I love it so much. The Museum District, the Medical Center and NASA are all in Houston and I could not be more proud to call it home.
But, like most natives, I don’t have much of a chance to check out some of the other jewels in the city. Such as hotels. Why would I need to? I live here!
Over the 4th of July, I decided that it was time to explore my city. And that included a night in one of the parts of town that is improving the fastest. Downtown Houston. So, thanks to Hotel Icon, I got to re-explore that part of town and bunk in luxury too.
Hotel Icon is nestled on the edge of Downtown Houston. It is tucked away, easy to miss but necessary to find.
I love the feel of the entire hotel.
After parking in the tucked away parking garage, I made my way into the expansive lobby and walked into a luxurious land of elegant style and attention to detail. The vast lobby expanded to include and open bar and a relaxing sitting area that is perfect for people watching. Games such as Backgamon and Tic Tac Toe say between chairs, begging for a usually busy person to sit and take in some traditional games with a friend.
When you get to your room, you will be entranced with the tall ceilings, the cool but elegant decor and the soft, clean bed that wraps a tired traveler up in the bliss of peaceful sleep. My room featured a bathroom so expansive that I had to share that with my social media audience on Facebook.
I loved the crown molding, modern but classic decor of the comfortable chairs, desk with a chair and the serene atmosphere. When traveling to Downtown Houston, this is the hotel to stay. Hands down! And if you want romance – whether traveling into town or on a staycation – check out the Kiss and Tell package that includes long stem roses and a night of love for you and your significant other! Other special packages are available as well!
I noted, on several occasions, the serious attention to detail. From the hallways to the electrical plates, nothing was overlooked. In fact, I was so impressed with the hotel that I am planning a trip back and soon!

The Hotel Icon was a wonderful way to experience old world ambiance. I enjoyed my stay too. The rubber ducks they include in each room are a cute touch.
