I was lucky enough to take in the 4th of July this year at Hotel Sorella in CityCentre in Houston, TX.  I loved the rooms, the atmosphere and the feeling of escape from the big, bustling city.

Inside this hip and modern hotel sits a restaurant with wines, food and atmosphere for a romantic dinner in or a family meal with style, called Bistro Alex.

Now, I visited this restaurant on the very busy 4th of July.  I went late, before the firework show hoping to miss the dinner crowd.  I did but I could tell the staff was working hard.

I ordered a glass of wine and sat back to watch the myriad of firework watchers gathering for the show.  Some guests of the hotel, some not.  The atmosphere was alive and electric as families and couples dined in the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant.

I ordered a wonderful fish dish  – I’m sorry, I can not for the life of me remember the name – and then sat back with my wine to take it all in.

The meal arrived and it was delicious!  The fish was well seasoned, the sauce was amazing and the entire dish was a new favorite of mine.  I then ordered the Creme Brulee dessert and savored the sweet flavor as the creamy desert danced on my taste buds.

I would visit Bistro Alex again even without staying in the hotel.  I think the atmosphere was romantic, the location in the hotel gave a great view for people watching and the food was amazing.
