I am so happy that my girls get to experience the Berenstain Bears. This seemingly simple animated series packs a punch on lessons in love, forgiveness, responsibility and family.
My girls could not wait to get their hands on the super soft, plush bears that came with each set. The perfect playmates are a great size for little hands and cuddle partners for bedtime. Sister Bear is decked out in her pink suspenders and Brother Bear wears his trademark red shirt with pride.
But the DVD’s are what made our family movie afternoon special.
The girls wanted to see Brother Bear’s DVD first. A lover of all things sports, he stands up for the less athletic and smaller cubs at school. In one episode of the DVD, his parents think he is old enough to watch Sister Bear after school while they run an errand. As he learns responsibility to grow, he also learns that being a kid does not have to be put on hold.
As we swapped DVD’s- yes, we had a whole afternoon of Berenstain Bears fun, Sister Bear and her fun spirited third grade self entertained my daughters – and me – with fairy tale play, her love of sports and her respect and friendship to others.
Both box sets offer clean, fun, family entertainment that stands the test of time.
Not only do the kids learn lessons in the DVD’s, but so do the adults. And I think it is important for kids to see adults still growing and learning even though they are grown ups.
Be sure to head to Walmart or Sam’s Club to pick up these wonderful gift box sets. Boy or girl, you children will fall in love and a make a new friend!
