Wet-Nap packets in hand, I got to work creating a fun, healthy Bento Lunch Box for my girls. My first tip. Find the little cups that are on the napkin aisle. Incidentally, you can find Wet-Nap in the same area at Walmart too. These cups are great sorters and can keep dry foods, like pretzels, from softening next to wet foods, like fruit.
I made ‘flower’ sandwiches which will be fun and easy for kids to eat. Just use three sizes of the same cookie cutters, large to small. Cut the bread the largest, the meat the middle and the cheese the smallest. Slice a blueberry in two and use it on top to make the flower stand out!
The next compartment in my box is for the ‘sides’. I used a star cookie cutter to make star cantaloupes and apples. To add the color kids love, I added blueberries and carrot sticks too. Once I put in the little cup with pretzels in it, I felt the box was complete. Except that it was not. I needed to add the Wet-Nap.
Now I know from using the Wet-Nap packets in my car, my purse and at home since I bought them that they not only clean, they last while they clean. These are not one use and thrown them away wipes. These are thick, good sized wipes that cover my hands easily. They moisturize with aloe so I am not concerned if my kids wipe their faces with them and are now softer than before. So I know my children will be able to use one their whole lunch period and it won’t lose it’s cleaning power. They are easy to open and the kids can just toss them away when they are done with lunch!
Bento Lunch Boxes are super fun to make and eat and, even for moms on the go, they can encourage balanced eating for the whole family. But adding something to them that will help everyone keep their hands cleaner during lunch is important too!
How do you Bento? I would love to hear!
