OK, I have to admit, I was a skeptic!  How in the world is the ZeroWater pitcher with a filter going to remove all of the minerals and deposits in our country water?  Surely, the commercials that air that filters to all zeros starts with bottled water!

I am so happy to report that I was WRONG!

A little background.  We live in the country.  And our water company is a private company that is virtually unstoppable when it comes to rate changes.  The majority of the neighborhood is trying to get wells despite their underhanded attempts to stop us but, in the meantime, we are strapped.  In this mess, I have always known that our water was not the highest quality.  The water company does not even take care of the area around the tank so surely they could care less about our water quality.  My glasses reflect it as well.  So I fully expected the number to be high when I put the ZeroWater meter into a glass of water from our tap.  But I was SHOCKED to see that it read 231!  Most places have tap water reading lower than 200.

Tap Water Reading

Now, I kind of knew this was coming because I went to the TDS Free Lookup on the ZeroWater website and found that my area reads high, but I was still standing with eyes bulging at the number!

So, that is 231 total dissolved solids in our water supply.  High, right?  But some areas of the country can reach up to 400 – 500!  Can you imagine? So, even more excited – and a bit more skeptical – I opened the ZeroWater pitcher.  I poured tap water into the top and while it filtered, I tested my filtered water from my fridge!

Filtered Refrigerated Water

It read… gulp… 174!  From the filtered fridge!  I was even more anxious to see if the ZeroWater pitcher worked!

As I waited for the tap water to filter through,  I checked out some of the awesome features on the pitcher!  I LOVE the push spout off of  the back of the pitcher making it super easy to fill a glass!  Even while the filter is cleaning.  I love how easy it is to screw in the filter and fill it.  And the handy meter holder on the top means I won’t lose it in my many kitchen gadgets that fill my drawers!  Not only that but it is a pretty pitcher, thin for the fridge and easy to carry and pour!

The time has come to see if ZeroWater lives up to it’s claims!

I filled a glass-  mind you that it was washed with the water from the tap – and was shocked and amazed to see my reading at 009!  Not zero BUT I can tell just my looking at my glass that there is a film on it from our hard water and that meter is super sensitive to that!  So I am THRILLED!
