My kids are pretty good about brushing their teeth. I have to remind them to do it but they think it is kind of fun. One thing I do wish, though, is that they would brush longer. And except for my standing and telling them 20 times to keep brushing, nothing else has seemed to encourage a longer brush time. Not even musical toothbrushes.
So then Dr. Howard Wright (the dentist who created this toothpaste) emailed me and asked if I would like to try a new toothpaste called Vortex Color Changing Toothpaste Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste for Kids, I jumped on board.
The concept for Vortex Color Changing Toothpaste is very simple. It dispenses in two streams. One red, one blue. As my kids brush, the toothpaste turns purple on their teeth! The faster they brush and the longer they brush the easier it was to see the color change! It is really very cool!
The other thing that is really unique and great about the Vortex Color Changing Toothpaste is that it does not ‘foam’ like other toothpastes. The chemical, sodium lauryl sulfate, has been removed. So instead of having kids stop brushing because they can not breath through all of the thick foam, or the frustration of the toothpaste running down their face, there is minimal foaming causing kids to brush longer!
In addition, by taking out the chemical, the fluoride (the minimum allowed by the FDA) that is in the Vortex toothpaste adheres to the teeth and sticks, thus enhancing the actual benefits. The extra foam does not wash it off, so to speak.
I handed this toothpaste to my kids and let them use it as they would any other. Though I told them to watch to see if it changes colors, I was really interested in the non foaming aspect. As I watched, I noticed that I did not have to stand and tell them to keep brushing, nor did I have to keep wiping toothpaste off of their chins.
All three love the taste, love that it changed colors – you could see purple – and do want to brush longer! We have used it now for about two weeks and the kids run in to watch the toothpaste come out on the brush and then change colors in their mouth! We love it!

the colors
My son doesn’t brush long enough, either. He is into the Listerine mouthwash that you use before you brush, and it turns your teeth blue so he knows where he needs to brush. This would be an awesome addition to that routine!
Would love for my son to try it!
My daughter would love this since she has never seen a toothpaste like this before
The fact that it does not foam much and it changes colors seems like an answered prayer. It would be a blessing to receive this to try.

My kids would love this! They are always complaining about their toothpaste and this would make it exciting for them. Thanks for the giveaway :)
I work with kids with various special needs/learning challenges most of them are strong visual learners. I like that due to “its color-changing element, Vortex acts as a timer to encourage children
to brush their teeth longer”. The fact that it tastes good too will be a strong motivator when teaching/reinforcing proper toothbrushing!
I will always be a kid at heart. I love the idea of the color change and would love to try it myself.
I think that it’s cool that it turns purple in their mouths! Maybe I can get my daughter to brush her teeth without badgering her first!

I love the idea of no foam just as much s the color changing aspect.I will try anything to get my 4 kids brushing longer without me complaining.
I like the fact of color change….. but i am most happy about the fact of the fluoride being taken out….. I have messed up teeth that will never ever ever be white not can i whiten them because of how much fluoride was pushed down our throats as kids…
I learned that Vortex changes color through simple mixing, with no added chemicals. Color-change acts as a timer, encouraging children to brush five times longer.
I’d say the color changing.. mine are older but still don’t brush exactly as they should. when we had some mouthwash that changed their teeth to blue to show where plaque was (as they brushed properly the blue came off) they had a ball with that so I think this would make them want to brush the proper way and not just Go in swipe a brush across and call it done oh and mine are 11 and 14 when they were smaller I never had a problem with them brushing I had a problem with making them stop! but as they got older That’s when the problems of getting them to do it correctly came in Silly kids :P
Love the color change and that the sodium laureth sulfate has been taken out one less extra chemical and a lot less foam makes both kids and parents/caregivers happy :)
Color changing for sure
The fact that it changes colors!
I love the fact that it’s a product that draws the interest of children by using multiple colors. If it draws their interest their more likely to use it and use it properly.
