Dun Dun Duuunnnn! A few years ago we got a kick out of watching the Crood Family learn to change and race to beat The End. Today, Netflix premiered the new series Dawn of the Croods.

We woke up this morning, and I knew exactly how the day was going to start. Up came Netflix and Dawn of the Croods. With the kids enthralled I was able to fully wake up. I made a list of last minute Christmas prep that needed to happen, and then began breakfast. The kids were having a great morning reconnecting with their favorite prehistoric family.

DreamWorks Animation sent me a Dawn of the Croods Family Holiday pack to enjoy with the kids as well. It was another perfect entertainer to set the kids up with while I got some wrapping done. Included in the kit was a Family Car Decal (seen up top), a Cave Painting Kit, stocking and Bone Ornament. While many people have those really nice themed trees, ours is a mish mash of my childhood ornaments and the one the kids bring home each year from school. Our bone ornament fit right into our eclectic theme – and bonus it’s unbreakable!

I had a few moments to spare in the hustle of the morning and sat to enjoy an episode of Dawn of the Croods with the kids. What I didn’t realize was that this series is the Prequel to the movie. The Dawn in the title now makes a lot more sense. Dawn of the Croods stars Laraine Newman as Gran, Chris Parnell as Snoot, and Ana Gasteyer as Meep.

The Cave Painting was a hoot. I haven’t let the kids finger paint in probably way too long! Little Prince is not shown because he chose to paint in true caveman style without the need of clothes in his way. If you enjoyed the movie we think you’ll enjoy the new Netflix series as well. We sure have been.
