I am going to go out on a limb and assume that we all have special people in our lives.  People that not only support us on a daily basis but go above and beyond to help us out when we are in need.

Whether it be childcare, meals, or just an extra shoulder to cry on, women have, for generations been reaching out to each other and trying to make each others lives easier.

I have several dear friends and I have talked about many of them on here. From my incredible neighbor who comes over and helps me wrangle my kids, to my best friend who can tell when I need time away and finds the time to be there when I finally get it.

And then there is the dear friend who kidnapped my kids one day.

In the midst of the disaster of a move I had last year we had a sale on our house fall through 12 hours before close.  The entire house was in boxes, I had a 3, 2, and 5 month old and I was overwhelmed with the news.

I called my dear friend, Heather, and let her in on the drama.

Next thing I know, she and another friend of ours show up at my door, snatches up my kids and says, “Call us when you work out what you are going to do.  Your kids will be fine!”

They had even found their extra car seats for my kids so that all I had to do was pack bags!

I took full advantage, got on the phone, and three hours later showed up at her house – with a thank you bottle of wine – to collect my very happy kids!

Who does that anymore?  Seriously!  To this day, it is one of the most wonderful things anyone has ever done for me!

If you have a friend who has helped you and you want to show her your love and appreciation, please consider a piece from an organization I have written about before, the Shop for a Better World / Heart Of Haiti collection!   There are even new items added for Spring!
