I grew up in northern WI and have seen temps in the -50’s. My guess is -35 for actually being outside in the cold. I know I had to take my nieces to school one day because they had school and it was -35 without the windchill.

  2. Sandy VanHoey says

I know it’s been below 0 in Michigan and with wind chills, it was mighty cold when I lived there…too cold for me now

  3. Michele Behlen says

I think probably -20. It hasn’t been that cold in a few years but I can remember winters when it was.

  4. LarissaB. says

I was born and raised in Northern Minnesota – so the coldest temp would have been probably -40*F, not including wind chill.

  5. Rachel Miller says

I think w/ windchill we’ve had some below zero days here in NE…doesn’t seem like we get as many now tho

  6. Gina Demaree McKee says

I live in North Dakota. It’s COLD! This year, the coldest has been about -18, without the windchill.

  7. cappytweet says

I didn’t notice the degrees, but enough to be snowing (lol, so I’m guessing maybe 30?)

something below zero….biking back home to my apartment in college has seen some really cold nights, not sure exactly the temperature there, but i know for sure when i was little there was a rule that we had to go outside for recess unless the wind chill was below zero and there were definitely times it was well below that.

I remember the temperature dropping to -17 degrees once when I was a kid. It’s possible that was a wind chill factor temp, but I just remember being astonished that it could even BE that cold! Fortunately, in most years the coldest temp I have to endure is around -5 or so.

minus 25 with a windchill you don’t even want to know. This week it was -8 and windchill of -22. Tomorrow it’s to get up to 50. Crazy Colorado weather.

    Thanks for the contest.

I live in Illinois, and we often have subzero temps in winter :(
Just next week I think it’s supposed to get around -9, but I’ve seen far worse,
plus factoring in the wind chill … ugh lol

  12. says

I don’t actually know, I live in Va so probably not that low, The coldest I ever remember being was 1996. We had an ice storm that year, I also decided to jump into a frozen pool that year. Was fun lol
