Silver Spur Smoked Split Chicken Packs from Sam’s Saves Dinner for My Family

“Oh my gosh, this chicken is SOOOO good!”

That is exactly what I said when I cut into the juicy, smoked goodness of Silver Spur Split Chicken packages that are at Sam’s Clubs nationwide now. Seriously, for precooked chicken that you just bake and enjoy, this is seriously delicious.

More than that,the time it saves me in preparing a healthy meal for my kids is invaluable! Because as a mom of three, meal time can get a little crazy.

Moreover, feeding picky kids is a challenge. Rarely can I find a meal that all three love and will eat. But one thing they DO love is chicken! However, defrosting chicken, seasoning it and then cooking it just takes way too much time. So any time savers I can use are awesome.

Plus, we always, always seem to be on the go. Whether it is to an evening event or to get done and do homework, or family game or movie night, I just don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen anymore.

Last night, true to form, we had my daughter’s 1st Grade concert where she played the letter J – so FLIPPIN’ Cute, I might add – so we had less than an hour from her getting home from school, getting ready and eating dinner before we had to zip out again.

I opened my freezer, pulled out the Silver Spur Split Chicken, already fully cooked, and placed it on a baking rack at 350° and went off to get my daughter’s dressed. About 10 minutes before it was done, I opened a box of macaroni and cheese and cooked it up and then I threw some steam in a bag veggies in the microwave and dinner was ready!

“Oh my gosh, this chicken is SOOOO good!”

Yes, I repeat myself when things are surprisingly good!

The chicken came out perfectly! It is juicy, tender and me and my kids gobbled it up. You can totally tell it is slow smoked because you can taste that deliciously warm flavor of the process. It is a little peppery too to add yet another layer of flavor.

If you don’t believe how good it was, ask my kids. My KIDS actually passed up eating the family favorite mac and cheese and opted for the chicken instead! I am so not kidding! Taste it for yourself before you buy it THIS SATURDAY AT SAMS!

Sam’s Clubs in Texas are set to have demo’s from 2-4pm CST Saturday, March 9, 2013 so that you can taste this awesome chicken for yourself! Just head over and enjoy the tasting and then pick up a pack – or 5 – and have it on hand for those busy night when you just have to have a great dinner but don’t have the time!

Now, I will have to see your there because my left over Silver Spur Split Chicken is ready and I am seriously hungry!

Lean Cuisine + Skinny Cow + Soy-Glazed Sweet Potatoes Recipe = Mommy’s Healthier Happy Meal

Sometimes making things for myself can get boring. So even though I want to eat better and take better care of myself, I find myself popping the kids fish sticks into the oven for my meals too. Especially on a day when all three kids are in school and I am trying to get everything done before they get home.

Lucky for me, and my waistline that I am still trying to whittle away, I discovered Lean Cuisine Asian Flavors at Sam’s a few months ago. And I do love the ease and convenience of popping one of these in the microwave instead of something less healthy for me. But even as much as I love them, I find that I still want a treat or something yummy to go along with my Lean Cuisine meal.

So, since I have eaten my entire 6 pack that I bought recently, I packed up the kids and headed out to Sam’s Club to see if I could find something fun to have with my Lean Cuisine!

Plus it is just fun to tool around Sam’s Club! Especially on sample weekends! And my kids like the pizza there. And it was lunch time.

We ate first so that I did not spend my entire mortgage payment on food by being hungry and shopping and then headed straight to the frozen food section. I knew my Lean Cuisine Asian Flavor 6 packs were on the end cap so I snapped those up in no time! And then I strolled with the kids up and down the frozen food section looking for some other low calorie foods or dessert that I could have with my meals. Along the way, I found Lean Cuisine Italian Flavors! A 4 pack of Spaghetti and Meatballs and Parmesan Chicken! YES PLEASE! Oh my tummy grumbled!

As I left the frozen food aisle and headed to the ice cream sections – dangerous, I know – I spotted the perfect compliment to my Lean Cuisine meals! Skinny Cow Vanilla and Cookies and Cream Sandwiches! Mommy was a happy girl!

You know what else made mommy happy? The prices! Right now, at Sam’s Club, through February, Skinny Cow is only $8.98 (was 9.98), Lean Cuisine Italian Flavors 4-pk is down to $6.98 (was 7.98), and the Lean Cuisine Asian Flavors 6-pk is only $9.98 (was 11.25)! I’ll take savings any time of the day!

I grabbed a few other things I needed, milk, eggs and some things for the kids, and headed to check out. Only to find out that the credit card and debit card systems were down nationwide! What? So I rolled my full cart and my kids to the ATM machine and waited patiently for it to give me some money!

We finally checked out and headed home. We stopped at the local grocery store and grabbed some sweet potatoes because I still wanted to make a side for my Lean Cuisine meal!

I so wanted to make a recipe I found on the Eating Well website, Soy-Glazed Sweet Potaotes to have as a side with my Lean Cuisine meals. It looked so easy and healthy!

Later that evening I was hungry. Not wanting to fall victim to the kids meals again, I pulled out my sweet potatoes and got to cutting them up! I followed the directions and ended up with some delicious sweet potatoes! They were sweet and yummy and perfectly complimented my Sesame Chicken and noodles. And then, when my plate was clean, I relished in the creamy, smooth flavor of my Skinny Cow Cookies and Cream Sandwiches!

Oh mommy was happy. Especially since the entire meal was a ton healthier and more fulfilling than some heated up fish sticks!

Celebrate Your New Year with Daily Chef Bruschetta from Sams Club #MealsTogether

Moving from 2012 to 2013 could not have come fast enough for me! Though 2012 held some good times, my pending divorce has me ready to move on and start fresh! And there is almost nothing better than a New Year to help gain new energy to make changes and happiness happen!

My plan this New Year’s was to take my daughters to their best friend’s house for a huge party complete with food, drinks and a bonfire perfect for roasting marshmallows! But when I got a call that the hostess had come down with the nasty cold and sinus infection everyone is getting right now, my heart sank. Now what would I do? I did NOT want to sit at home on another major Holiday {my ex had the kids the week of Christmas} thinking about nothing!

So, I picked up the phone, called my best friend, loaded my kids in the car and headed to her house two hours away to ring in the New Year with her and her son! The girls were over the moon excited!

But seeing as I had – errr – invited myself, I could not show up empty handed! Lucky for me, in anticipation of the other party, I had already been to Sam’s Club for goodies! Yes, I packed up my kids and headed to the store that generally has everything I need in my house! That includes the 15 pack of macaroni and cheese. You understand. LOL

As the girls and I munched on pizza – $10 for all 4 of us with drinks = nice! – I thought of what I could get to take to a New year’s celebration with a lot of people. Something delicious and nice looking that I could be proud of. I strolled the aisles – and by strolled I mean ‘rushed up and down trying to get out before my kids drove me NUTS’ – and surveyed the many options of goodies I could take. Meat and cheese trays, heat and serve meals and more. But it was on the end cap that my eyes rested on the Daily Chef Chicken and Bacon Bruschetta.

Just the sound of it made my mouth water! I put a box in my basket, added some Daily Chef Pigs in a Blanket for the kids and headed to find champagne! Clear and obvious purchase made, I got my standard waffles and mac and cheese plus some fruit and we headed out!

So when I decided to head to my best friend’s house, I was all ready! I packed an ice chest and headed that way. Once I got there, I laid out the Bruschetta, the pigs in a blanket, some fruit and the champagne and served it up!

Oh my happy taste buds! The Chicken & Bacon Bruschetta was crisp and creamy all at the same time! The bread stays firm and the cheese melts into it in the oven. When I bit into each one… you don’t need to know how many I helped myself to! – I tasted the creamy Ranch dressing and the warmth of it all. It was SO GOOD!

So much so that the next day when my parent’s visited for New Year’s day, I cooked up the second bag! Turns out, the Bruschetta from Sam’s used to be one of their favorite things to snack on at home and being here having them reminded them to get some more!

As you continue to ring in the New Year or have celebrations for any occasion in 2013, remember that you can serve a super easy appetizer that is delicious and fun to eat too! Just pick up some Daily Chef Bruschetta next time your are at Sam’s so that you have some on hand!

Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee & Artisan Fresh Cinnamon Rolls are Wonderful #DeliciousPairings

If you love coffee, raise your hand. If you love cinnamon rolls, raise your hand. If you can not imagine anything better than a sweet, soft, warm cinnamon roll dipped into coffee that has a little bit of spice and a lot of deep, rich, coffee flavor, then clap those hands together because I have discovered the perfect breakfast combination that will keep you warm all holiday season long!

Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee and Artisan Sweet Rolls are just that breakfast…. snack… afternoon treat…. late night munch. Well, you get it! Seriously, I even have my neighbors hooked on this wonderful black coffee and cinnamon roll combo and we ALL like to dress our coffee with cream and sugar. So this is H U G E!

In anticipation of finding something new and exciting and of serving my neighbors breakfast as a small THANK YOU for all they have done for me and my kids over the last year, I headed to Sam’s to pick up once of my favorite brands of in home brew coffee, Starbucks. I have always found that the Starbucks brew coffees have deeper, richer flavors than most that I find on shelves. So, given the choice, I pick a bag of Starbucks these days and enjoy a cup – BIG cup – every morning. So when I saw the NEW Holiday Blend on the shelf, I grabbed a bag. Now, there is supposed to be a display in stores but mine did not have it up yet. Luckily, everything I wanted was on shelves anyway!

I pushed the cart around for a while listening to my kids tell me that they wanted for Christmas – a stand up fireplace? – and then made my way to the bakery. Oh the pastries were calling my name. But a weakness of mine are the Artisan Fresh Cinnamon Rolls. I have had them before and almost can not go to Sam’s without picking up a package of them. I could not wait to share the Starbucks Holiday Blend with the cinnamon rolls!

I made my way home and sent a message to my neighbors that breakfast was on me. We have a weekend tradition where we go sit on my neighbors swing and literally watch the cows go by in the pasture next to her house. We love country living and it is a great way to start the day!

But before I treated my friends I wanted to try the Starbucks Holiday Blend and see how the cinnamon rolls would pair. I brewed a large pot and – leaving my traditional cream and sugar out – gave it a taste.

I have to say, I never thought I would like black coffee but the warm hints of cinnamon and ginger and cloves broke through and made this a cup I could enjoyed authentically. This might be the only way to enjoy it. It brews not too strong with a hint of sweet and no aftertaste. And then I took a piece of the Artisan Cinnamon Rolls and dipped it into the coffee.

Biting into the coffee soaked sweet, creamy, soft cinnamon roll was just delicious. Something about the sweet of the cinnamon roll with the underlying spicy and sweet flavor of the coffee is just complimentary. The flavor combination melted in my mouth and they married perfectly. I had a hard time forcing myself to share with my neighbors, I am not going to lie!

But I did share, just as they have shared their time and support with me. And as we sat {I had to SWEAR not to show photos of us in our morning robes!} dipping our cinnamon rolls into our black Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee, watching for the morning walk of the cows, we talked about the day and how perfect it was to start out with such #DeliciousPairings.

Redress Your Medicine Cabinet with BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages with QUILTVENT® Technology #HealthyValue

Every once in a while the time comes to clean out my medicine cabinet and replace the items with quality products that are good for my family. Ointments, refreshed medications and more. I am always amazed at the variety of product offered at Sam’s Club. Especially the quality of the name brands and available variety you can choose from. So I tooled around the health aisle for while, taking in all that I could use in my house on a daily basis.

BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages with QUILTVENT® Technology were available in a 5 pack that includes 100 Flexible Fabric, 20 Tough Strips Waterproof, 20 Tough Strips, 20 Flexible Fabric with Quiltvent and a bonus box of 20 Winnie the Pooh BAND-AID’S in a variety of sizes. Basically, an entire medicine cabinet in a box!

I got the home, careful to hide the Winnie the Pooh BAND-AIDS from the kids less ‘pretend’ boo-boos start to appear, and headed to my medicine cabinet. Lean Cuisine Asian Flavors Make an Easy Healthier Dinner #FrozenFavorites

As most of you know, I am trying to get in shape and get my weight under control! In fact, in the last 2 months I have lost 16 pounds and am pretty proud of myself! But, I have to admit, come dinner time, I have a hard time eating the right things. I guess I just work hard all day and assume that at dinner, I can do whatever.

In reality, I need healthier options. But I need convenient, easy options that I can make and eat. I am already making one dinner for the kids so, if I am going to do better at dinner, it has to be fast! I do not intend to be a short order cook, after all!

The other day while sitting in the car line for my daughter, I realized I needed to head to Sam’s Club to take advantage of their $2.58 gallons of milk. While there, I decided to see if there were any healthier options for me to enjoy at dinner time! Sam’s always has a great selection of #FrozenFavorites so I was pretty sure I’d find something new and interesting!

I picked up Katie, told her and the girls where we were going and got silence. In their defense, Megan was asleep and the other two were all reading on their tablets so they were occupied! Ahhh…. silence….

We got to Sam’s and I got that excited, I am going to find EVERYTHING I want cause it is Sam’s and it is crammed full of fun stuff, feeling. I love Sam’s. We walked in and I took in the massive amount of space that is filled with electronics, clothing, food, cameras and so much more!

We tooled around for a while looking at everything from household cleaners to children’s toys but the kids were getting restless. So, I headed to the refrigerated section for my milk and the frozen foods section for healthier dinner inspirations. I checked out the pizza, convenience meals, frozen treats and more.

At the end of one of the aisle, I hit paydirt! NEW Lean Cuisine Asian Flavor 6-Pack! YUM! That sounded delicious! The 6 pack includes Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry (yummy yum yum), Sesame Chicken and Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken. All 330 calories or less with 9 grams of fat or less. Not too shabby considering that they taste A MA ZING!

And just check out the ‘side’ I had with this meal! Mandarin Oranges topped with strawberry yogurt and all natural granola. Sort of a side and dessert all in one! I was more than satisfied and felt really good about myself after this fun and taste bud pleasing meal!

I have to say, I was a little skeptical. These are prepackages frozen foods after all. But I am really impressed with the tenderness of the chicken, the crispiness of the vegetables and the delicious, rich sauces that drip for every bite! I feel like this is no where near healthy, but it is! I would buy these again in a heartbeat at Sam’s and, in fact, on next months trip, I might buy more than one 6-pack!

And since I can buy them 6 at a time, thus saving money – only $1.88 per box! – and time, I am convinced that these meals are a great evening meal for me and any mom who is trying to take better care of herself!

Next time you are at Sam’s, pick up the Lean Cuisine Asian Flavor 6 – Pack. I bet you find, like me, that the variety, price and ease of making these part of a healthy dinner is very satisfying!

How International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee & My Kids Get Me Some Afternoon ME Time #CBias #IcedCoffee

There comes a time in every mother’s life where she has to admit that ‘me time’ is just impossible. I call this time “Summer”. With three young children now home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and my imagination flailing on only day 3, I am floundering in the water struggling for air. Much less finding time to rejuvenate my mommy motivation.

So, I came up with a plan. For my sanity and to save my children’s childhood summer memories.

I am using them. To be my pedicurist, my masseuse and my relaxation coaches! And while employing them, I will relax and enjoy my favorite treat in a glass! International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ‘spoil me rotten but in a price range I can afford’ Iced Coffee drink! I spend no more than $3.63 a carton – the two pack at Sam’s Club is even LESS per carton – and I can have at least 3-4 a week if I so choose!

To prepare for my wonderful 20 minutes of my kids doing nothing but focusing on pampering me – thus silencing the “Mommy, can I?”, “Mommy, I want!” and “MOMMEEEEEE”s that I hear all day, every day (and sometimes in my sleep), I headed to the store to get my Mocha Iced Coffee. I noticed that there is really nothing else like this on the market today. There are creamers and coffees that have to be brewed, but this is the only one where I can take it home, open it up, pour it in a glass and drink it!

Plus, you can dress it up for your special ME time if you want to! Add whipped cream and chocolate shavings, add frozen raspberries, sliced strawberries or just have it like it is. No matter how you do it, it will be de-vine!

Once home I tried – for days -to get 15 minutes to myself to open my little goodie bag I got from International Delight to help me get motivated to relax – thank you so much – but I could not do it with three, Summer loving, kids around.

So, the other day, in deperate need of a break, I hired them! And amazingly enough, they happily obliged! I handed them nail polish for my mani/ pedi, lotion for my tired legs, a brush for the bird’s nest I pull into a ponytail and put my oldest to work on a shoulder massage!

I sat outside, happily letting my kids slather my legs, paint all over my hands and pamper me as only little ones can! Messily! But I did not care! I had my glass of International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee and a few minutes to unwind while my children too ‘taking care of mommy’ very seriously.

And then, as a surprise, my two oldest seranaded me with their favorite song! I was a very happy mommy!
