Make these Pinecone Elf Ornaments and create your whole family! Pets too!

Pinecone Elf Ornaments are fun and festive

This holiday season I was looking for some fun crafts for the kids and I to do. I needed something easy, something fun and, hopefully something that would create a memory!  I asked my assistant what she thought we could do and she got to work showing me how fun these Pinecone Elf Ornaments are. With a hot glue gun and a little imagination, we created and entire family of a mom and three girls Elfs and four dogs too! They now hang on our tree and are just the cutest things ever! Learn how to make them for your family too!

What you need to make Pinecone Elf Ornaments

Tools for your Pinecone Elf Ornaments

Small to medium pinecones – I found mine in my yard but you can buy them at the craft store

Glue Gun
Green Felt
Red Felt
Small Bells
Small wooden balls
Thin Sharpie
Twine

Heat up your glue gun. Start with placing the small wooden balls on the top of the Pinecone using the hot glue gun to secure it.

Next make the hats. Using either the green or red felt, cut the top of a triangle and then curve the bottom as shown. Once you have one you can use it as a pattern for the rest of them.

Gently roll the hats into a cone and use the glue gun to secure the long side. Glue the bottom of the hat and place it on the wooden ball on the pinecone.

NOTE: if you are making the Pinceone puppy, clip a pinecone ‘leaf’ from a pincone and hot glue the ear to the side of the wooden ball before placing the hat on.

The puppy Pinecone Elf Ornaments just needs ears!

The scarf of the Pincecone Elf is created by cutting a strip of felt that can wrap around the neck. We did different scarfs for the people than the dogs. Wrap the scarf around and secure it with glue. Just to make it different.

The Pinecone Elf Ornaments needs a scarf!

Take one of the bells and secure it to the scarf with the hot glue gun.

Note: For the dog, we just did a ring around the neck and then cut a smaller piece to fold over, feed the bell through and glue to the collar!

Make the dog scarf by looping through a bell

Finally, take which ever color of felt you want and cut a heart that can be used as feet. Glue it on with the glue gun.

Add the bell to make the Pinecone Elf Ornaments jingle.

Take the twine and cut a piece that can be used as the ‘hook’. Make sure it is large enough when looped so that it can fit on your branch without messing up the elf hat! Use the glue to secure the base onto the back of the ornament, on the scarf.

Secure the Pinecone Elf Ornaments with twine!

Next, draw the eyes on the wooden ball.

Wala! Super cure Pinecone Elf Ornaments that everyone will love!
