Memories in Clay Review

WOWZER! Memories in Clay surprised me this week with a beautifully handcrafted custom platter using my children’s handprints! We started this project with my kids a few weeks ago… and with the busy time here at A Day in Motherhood, it slipped my mind that it would be arriving.  You can imagine my surprise; it was like opening a gift to ME! Personalized, beautiful, captured memories in clay of my children, like a snapshot in time. My heart bounced off my chest wall as tears formed in the corners of my eyes.

 We started this project by receiving the crafting medium in the mail.  The dough was contained in a zip lock bag and ready to be formed and imprinted within just a couple minutes. We rolled it out to appropriate thickness, applied some simple baby oil to their hands and firmly pressed them into the dough. The dough medium was very soft and smooth so their hand prints were quite detailed.  We then placed the printed dough into the oven to bake it until solid. It came out within minutes and we let it cool completely.  The next step was to send our prints back to Memories in Clay and allow for Jessica to design and complete her handmade craft.  There was a prepaid shipping envelop with our kit for a no hassle return.

This is how the exquisite platter arrived, and it took my breath away. Of course the kiddos had to make chocolate cookies to use it right away!  I would suggest that this would be an excellent gift for any family member, complete with a plate full of chocolate cookies. However, I will gladly share the cookies with anyone, but the Memories in Clay platter is coming home with me! It is thick, durable and the deep prints show amazing detail. This is a project that I will cherish forever!
