Back to School in my house changes every year now.  As my kids get older and my acceptance of that gets a little less difficult, we enter this season with more happiness and resolve to make it as fun as we can.  Talk to me next year when my youngest goes to Kindergarten and it might be a different story, however.

But this year, I have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartener and a ton of stuff I am sending to school.  Backpacks, lunch packs, extra clothing and a ton of school supplies.  And though our school does not have lockers, they have to secure their things and make sure they come home with them every day.  I am one of the  60 percent of people worry about the security of their belongings while they or their children are at school.  (Survey conducted by Survey Monkey from 3/12/13 – 3/14/13 among Americans representative of a National U.S. Census)

But since my kids are young, I am worried about a traditional combination lock that might be hard to work.

So I LOVE the new dialspeed Electronic Combination Lock that is out in stores now!

In 2010, Master Lock reinvented the traditional padlock with the introduction of the Speed Dial – the first padlock that opens on directional movements (up, down, left, right) instead of the traditional rotary dial. In 2012, the brand topped itself again with the release of the first-ever digital padlock called the dialSpeed.

First, this thing is sleek.  It is heavy but easy to handle and the flat front surface keeps it from getting banged like the old knob locks do.  And you only need one hand to operate it.  A plus when kids – from Kindergarten to College – have their hands full of other things!

I love that my kids don’t even need to rememeber a combination with it.  I can set it to the arrows.  So 2 to the left, one to the right and one up can open the lock.  So for my little ones, I think this is easier than remembering a string of numbers!

I feel much better sending my kids to school with this lock.  It will protect their valuables without confusing them on a busy day.
