Let’s face it, what to make for dinner can be a daunting question that you spend all day trying to figure out. Between work, school responsibilities, the laundry, the dogs and all of the other things that happen in my day, I simply don’t have three hours to spend in the kitchen every day making a gourmet meal. But I still want to feed my family fresh food that is healthier for us all and delicious to. So when I heard about HelloFresh, the largest global online ‘meals-at-home‘ delivery service, I had to see if it was for me!
HelloFresh is a service that delivers the fresh ingredients for the meals you want right to your door. I posted my first box on my Instagram account and people were really interested. We ALL understand the need for convenience meals that do not come out of the freezer. We want fresh meats, herbs, vegetables and a recipe we can follow. HelloFresh offers all of that!

I have to admit, opening the large box to three smaller ones was not exactly what I expected. I thought the meals came made and ready to heat up with some fresh ingredients to top them with. But no, inside were crisp, fresh veggies, soft breads, fresh herbs and seasoning packets, good quality meats and a step by step recipe that will turn any of us into a gourmet chef!
The next day I did not even think about dinner until the kids said they were hungry! So I pulled out the Pan-Seared Chicken box and got to work. Promoting my kids to help, we had this amazing and delicious, restaurant quality meal on the table in less than 30 minutes! When I say it was good, that is an understatement. This is probably one of the best meals I have ever made. The flavor of the sauce over the fresh veggies and potatoes melted in our mouths. As an added bonus, my daughter who only eats corn and carrots actually ate and LOVED the green beans!
The next few nights I opened the other two boxes. The Shrimp Farfalle was another family favorite and we had so much, we made it two meals!
Add to that the super easy, colorful and delicious One-Sheet Sausage and Pepper Hoagies and I had dinner nailed with three fresh, healthier, diverse meals that I made at home. No rummaging through the cabinets for that one ingredient I swore I already had. No trying to figure out if the veggies were really cooked to perfection. No wondering if my kids would eat it!
I think HelloFresh is a brilliant idea and I will be ordering from them again. I think it is totally worth the cost and not much more if I tried to shop for all of the ingredients myself. Plus, unlike the veggies for that recipe I was ‘going to make’ that I ended up tossing from waiting too long, these boxes alert you to the fact that they need to be consumed cutting down on food waste!
