There is no time. You are stuck. You spent too much time procrastinating and now your friends are on their way and you have no food for them to eat. We have all been there! The moment before the play date, the football game starts or just a mid afternoon visit throws you for an ‘I have nothing to serve’ loop in the house. It is a frustrating place to be. But if you are like me, you always have some key items in your house to make any small event into a party with the best snacks! My favorite snacks to turn into recipes are Farm Rich Italian Meatballs followed by Farm Rich Crispy Dill Pickles, Toasted Ravioli and Mozzarella Bites! With these items in the freezer, I can make my Easy Sweet and Sour Meatballs recipe and a snack tray for kids and adults alike that everyone will love!
Let’s start with one piece of exciting news before I get to the super simple Sweet and Sour Meatball recipe, though. Starting August 1, 2015, you can enter to WIN the Farm Rich Back Your Snack contest! Now this is cool guys. Basically, you go to any participating Walmart that has a Farm Rich demo going on – See the LIST of the participating store and dates – and vote for your favorite recipe that was submitted in store while enjoying fun samples of Farm Rich products. You can vote on the semi-final round on September 19 and 20th and the finalist on October 9 and 10, 2015! The winner who gets the most votes will WIN $10,000!
Now, how can YOU win too? There will also be 5 winners in the voters “sweepstakes.” The Sweepstakes Prize is a prize pack containing all of the following items: a tote bag, a meat thermometer, grilling tongs, an oven sheet, an oven mitt, $50 worth of Farm Rich product coupons and a $50 Walmart Gift Card. The ARV of each Sweepstakes Prize is $140. Total ARV of all Sweepstakes Prizes is Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00)! So when you vote in store, you are signed up to win! How fun is that?

Now, onto being in a hurry, never having enough time and a recipe that will knock your guests socks off. My Easy Sweet and Sour Meatballs came out of desperation. I had one Red Pepper from the Walmart Fresh Section, a jar of Sweet and Sour Sauce and some canned Pineapple Chunk and some Farm Rich Frozen Italian Meatballs. I told you I always have them here!
In any event, I pulled out my saucepan, threw everything in it, stirred til I knew that everything was well mixed and hot, and then served them creatively on some frozen rolls I had in the freezer!
- 2 pounds Farm Rich Frozen Italian Meatballs
- 1 12 ounce bottle Sweet and Sour Sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 can undrained pineapple chunks
- 1 red pepper, diced
- Optional: Frozen rolls, thawed
- In a saucepan, pour in the Farm Rich meatballs, sweet and sour sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, pineapple chunks and red pepper and bring to a slow boil. Turn down the hear slightly and let gently boil 10 minutes. Cut the tops off the rolls, add the meatball inside and garnish with chives or sesame seeds. Dribble some sauce on top for extra flair.
While you are letting the amazing flavors and aromas waft through the kitchen, cook the rest of your Farm Rich snacks! I used a fun, bright serving tray, added Ranch dressing to the middle and let me kids go on it!
Once your Easy Sweet and Sour Meatballs and the rest of your Farm Rich snacks are ready, set them out and watch as your guests ooh and ahh over a snack table that took less than 20 minutes total to set up! Not to mention the amazing flavors that pop when you bite into any Farm Rich snack!
