This blog post is part of a paid SocialMoms and TruMoo blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.
There are few things my kids enjoy more than a nice tall glass of chocolate milk. For years, I bought white milk and chocolate syrup and that is how I made it. It was OK with me but then I saw TruMoo in the store one day. With only 140 calories per serving (that was in the syrup alone!) and No Artificial Growth Hormones or high fructose corn syrup, I decided to give it a shot. The cost was the same as a gallon of milk and the syrup and now I don’t have to buy both! As my kids were enjoying it, I started coming up with fun recipes that I could make with TruMoo. I decided that I wanted to see if I could make Chocolate Milk Chocolate Pudding!
I am a firm believer that you can not have too much chocolate. Not even a little bit of too much chocolate. In fact, more chocolate is always a good thing! My kids LOVE the taste of TruMoo so I knew any recipe I made with it would be a hit.
- ¼ C sugar
- ¼ C cocoa powder
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
- 2 C chocolate milk (TruMoo)
- 1 egg
- 4 Oz of white and milk chocolate chips, combined
- Whipped cream, caramel, fruit for garnishment
- Mix the sugar, cocoa powder and cornstarch in a pot. Slowly stir in the chocolate milk while bringing the mixture to a boil. Stir/ wisk throughout until pudding thickens. In another bowl that can sustain heat, scramble the egg. Slowly pour the hot pudding mixture in while continuing to wisk. Add the chocolate chips and stir until they are melted. Place a piece of waxed paper over the bowl and put in the fridge for about an hour or so. Pull out and add to shot glasses or ramekins and garnish to impress!
Now, I have made this recipe with white milk before and it was good. Oh.so.good. But there is something about substituting 1% Lowfat TruMoo that gives it a little more chocolate edge. It is so smooth and so creamy and though it does not get as set as pudding made with whole milk, the flavor and the consistency are highly addictive!
And then I made a large cup of pudding for me later when the kids are asleep! Hey, it’s 1% milk… I can splurge!
This of this recipe to top cakes with, stuff cupcakes with or just to have for you when you need a little treat. They are awesome for dinner parties and showers too!
TruMoo tastes great and it better for you then some other alternatives for chocolate milk. I feel better letting my kids have this and they love drinking it!
What recipe would you make with TruMoo? I would love to hear!
