Book 2 in the Kare Kids Adventures series is out – Charlotte and the Mysterious Vanishing Place.
The series continues a generation in the future from Book 1, The Mystery of Bald Rock Island. Kelcie’s daughter Charlotte is leading our adventure this time around. Like her mother she is adventurous and loves to explore the outdoors. When she notices the ground seems to be sinking in the surrounding woods, she gets the proper help from adults.
What will happen though when her new puppy takes off into the woods, and the grown-ups aren’t around to help? You’ll have to read to find out the answer!
Unfortunately, my kids weren’t as interested in sitting and listening to this book. I blame it mostly on summer coming to an end and school picking back up. Sadly, sitting to read was not on the top of their priority list this month. So one night when I was kicked out of the house an hour before my friends party, I took the time to find a secluded spot and finish the book myself. After all, I felt like I left poor Charlotte hanging on the tip of solving the mystery and just had to find out.
It’s a rare treat that I get to spend time alone, and I loved spending it this time with Charlotte. Charles A Salter has a way of writing plainly that makes it easy to follow the adventure and connect with the kids. While mine didn’t enjoy listening to it this month, I believe they eventually will.
